So I finally got started—about an hour later than I expected. I’m currently in a nice puff of wind from145 True and doing 8.5 knots (a bit more than 9kts over the ground thanks to a following tidal current).
This morning was more craziness—mostly stress over making sure that I have everything I need, have taken care of business at home, made good on all the promises I made (I think!), and so forth. Fortunately, I’ve done pretty much everything on my checklist so, whatever hasn’t been covered would likely have been omitted even if I delayed another week. If I promised you something and didn’t get it done, I’m sorry. It truly slipped my mind.
The folks at Lyman-Morse in Camden gave me a nice send-off—cannon, air horn, logo loot. They’ve done a great job helping to get Resolute ready, as has Bruce Schwab at Ocean Planet Energy.
Anyway, once I get clear of the Penobscot Bay islands and lobster gear, I’ll spend some time below getting the last-minute stuff properly stowed away.
That’s it for now…
Fair Winds to you Scott!
You go guy! Good luck on this passage!
Seeing any fish yet,Scott?
Hi Scott! This is all very exciting, I wish you a safe and comfy run across. Surely the Southing will maybe get you into warming temps maybe a little bit. I hope “comments” don’t count as Sat phone minutes etc, and no need to respond, but fair winds and following seas…

Hi Scott – briefed the lunch bunch on your departure. Needless to say, those that did not already know were very impressed with your preparation and plans and all wish you “fair winds”. I gave them your writeup and website link. I’m sure some will be in touch with you. Off to a squadron exec comm meeting shortly.
Bravo! We both wish you the best.
